Free entry to National Parks this weekend January 13, 2012

Pyramid Point at Sleeping Bear Dunes, overlooking Lake Michigan, in January

If you are within travel distance to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, entry fees are waived this weekend as part of the National Park Service’s Free Entrance Days. Grab the snowshoes, XC skis or simply your winter boots and go! Also, check out the Saturdays at the Lakeshore at SBD and enjoy a guided snowshoe hike with a Ranger including free snowshoes (quantity limited so reservations are highly recommended). Park pass is required on all other days. The fresh air is sure to leave your little ones good and tuckered come time for bed.

TIP: Know that it usually is a bit colder at SBD than inland due to Lake Michigan, so do dress one layer more than what you would at home.
